One of the myths that exist about how to prevent pregnancy is to have sex by using the stand up style. Is it true that if we engage in intercourse on a stand it will reduce the risk of pregnancy? Let's take look how medical review about these myth.


And medically proven to prevent pregnancy is to use contraception. According to a study conducted in 2010, nearly 1 in 5 men believe that having sex standing up will not cause pregnancy in couples. Most people found that the law of gravity can prevent the sperm to fertilize the egg, so they no longer need a condom.

But this is wrong. Sperm can still get into the uterus, found the egg and fertilization if done during the fertile period. Even after having sex while standing up, and then the woman do jumping, the sperm still enter the uterus.

"Not really, it's a myth. Due to the way the sperm follow the vaginal canal and fertilization can occur quickly" explained Dr. Dwiana Ocviyanti who is a gynecologist.

Standing position and gravity will not have an effect on the ability of sperm to swim. It will be lost quickly with boom male cells (spermatozoa) into the uterus to unite with the ovum (female cells) in the fallopian tubes. Anything else is removing the sperm outside the vagina before ejaculation. This action is also the risk of causing pregnancy when performed during the fertile period.
