Oprah and Dr Oz False Endorsements
Talk show host Oprah Winfrey and television expert Dr. Mehmet Oz, a frequent guest on Winfrey's show, sued more than 50 businesses on Wednesday, saying they had falsely claimed the pair endorsed various beauty products and dietary supplements.
Winfrey's companies Harpo Inc. and OW Licensing Co. and Oz and his company Zo Co. sued the little-known firms located throughout America in a federal lawsuit in New York seeking to stop the "unauthorized and unlawful use" of their names, pictures, voices and trademarks.
"These defendants are willfully capitalizing on plaintiffs' valuable reputation and intellectual property rights to lure consumers into ordering their infringing products on the false premise that they have been tested or recommended by Ms Winfrey and/or Dr Oz when they have not," the lawsuit said.
The suit the actions had "gravely injured" their reputations.
The lawsuit said many of the offers made by the companies enticed consumers into "credit card scams or other fraudulent schemes."
The products in the dispute include dietary supplements, cosmetics such as cellulite and anti-wrinkle creams and over-the-counter items such as tooth-whitening products.

Alyssa Milano Wedding
Alyssa Milano and CAA agent David Bugliari tied the knot Saturday at his family's New Jersey estate, People magazine confirms. The couple, who met in 2006, hosted a farmhouse-style wedding, with cocktail tables made of hay bales and furniture made of rattan, which added to the rustic vibe. Guests included actor Bradley Cooper, a friend of the groom, People reports.
"My Italian family still eats Sunday dinner together every week," Milano, 36, told People. "We wanted to capture the same feeling with people passing around beautiful bowls of food and talking and laughing." Milano wore a Vera Wang dress and carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley when she walked down the grass and rose-petal covered aisle to the strains of John Lennon's "Imagine." Bugliari proposed to the TV star last December with a ring he designed himself.

Jackson Earnings Grow by Millions After Death
It has been 48 days since Michael Jackson died, and while family members of the late pop star are still at war with the executors of his estate, the answer to another question — how much the singer is worth in death — is becoming clear. He has already earned $100 million through a film deal and various merchandising contracts, and the executors expect another $100 million to roll in by the end of the year.
While several business deals have been reached — for things like commemorative coins, a line of school supplies and a $150 coffee table book — the matter of untangling Mr. Jackson’s vast estate, assets and debt, goes on, as does wrangling with family members. Cash has been collected from former advisers who had held money for Mr. Jackson — several million dollars from one — and the executors have tracked down a collection of Mr. Jackson’s personal memorabilia and other items that were almost auctioned off last April to pay debts.
The overall value of Mr. Jackson’s business, were it to be sold in the future like Mr. Presley’s was, would most likely be several hundred million dollars, said Mark Roesler, chairman of CMG Worldwide, a licensing firm that has worked with the estates of Mr. Presley, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean. Neverland Ranch itself could become a future moneymaker, just like Elvis Presley’s Graceland. Some family members hope that Mr. Jackson will be buried there, but that decision has not been made. Neverland is owned in partnership with Colony Capital, a Los Angeles real estate company that stepped in when Mr. Jackson was on the brink of foreclosure.
Another idea is to establish a permanent Michael Jackson attraction in Las Vegas, which would house the late singer’s memorabilia. This option may be preferable to Neverland, because Las Vegas is more easily accessible to tourists. In life, Mr. Jackson faced a precarious financial future, as he piled on debts to finance his tastes in art, to travel on private jets and to keep up Neverland. In death, his estate may enjoy the financial security he never had.

Ponyo - Forces of Nature, Including Children
PONYO
Opens on Friday nationwide.
Written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki; United States production directors, John Lasseter, Brad Lewis and Peter Sohn; English-language screenplay by Melissa Mathison, translated from the original Japanese by Jim Hubbert; music by Joe Hisaishi; produced by Toshio Suzuki; released by Walt Disney Studios. Running time: 1 hour 40 minutes. This film is rated G.
To watch the image of a young girl burbling with laughter as she runs atop cresting waves in “Ponyo” is to be reminded of how infrequently the movies seem to express joy now, how rarely they sweep us up in ecstatic reverie. It’s a giddy, touchingly resonant image of freedom — the animated girl is as liberated from shoes as from the laws of nature — one that the director Hayao Miyazaki lingers on only as long as it takes your eyes and mind to hold it close, love it deeply and immediately regret its impermanence.
“Ponyo” is the latest masterwork from Mr. Miyazaki, the influential Japanese animator who has advanced the art with films like “Princess Mononoke,” “Spirited Away” and “Howl’s Moving Castle.” The new film, despite the initial distractions of the recognizable voices crammed into the English-language version (a subdued Matt Damon, a fine Betty White), shares thematic and visual similarities with his earlier work, notably its emphasis on the natural world, its tumults and fragility. (As Mr. Miyazaki once put it, “All my animation and comics involve land, sea and sky — they all revolve around what happens on earth.”) But “Ponyo,” which takes some inspiration from “The Little Mermaid,” Hans Christian Andersen’s macabre fairy tale, has a narrative simplicity, or rather the clarity of a distillation.

President Bill Clinton Speak to Bloggers
On the first day of Netroots Nation, the fourth annual conference of progressive/liberal bloggers, health care and those politically charged town hall meetings dominated much of the buzz this evening in the run-up to a talk by former President Bill Clinton, the opening keynote speaker.
Perhaps fitting for a town like this, major unions like AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) and SEIU (Service Employees International Union) as well as others, are major sponsors. In a video address, Gerald McEntee, head of AFSCME, recalled the multimillion-dollar campaign effort that went into electing Democrats in 2008 and outlined the millions of dollars now being spent by unions to push for overhauling health care. Part of being here does entail taking hits about the mainsteam media or the traditional media. Last year, the House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, and former Vice President Al Gore were the top speakers among elected officials at the conference.
As for the Clintons, bloggers reacted coolly to Hillary Rodham Clinton as she campaigned for the Democratic nomination, in part because of her vote on the Iraq war resolution. For his part, Mr. Clinton has been meeting with liberal bloggers periodically, talking about a host of issues.
